Arimatsu Area

Arimatsu Station

The town has a history of approximately 400 years of the tie-dyeing process for kimono fabric. Tie-dyed clothes made in Arimatsu became one of the Tokaido specialty goods in the Genroku period (late 17th century), and they were sold to Daimyos and travelers at the shops. You can enjoy shopping for various Shibori dyed clothes and stroll along the Former Tokaido Highway where traditional preserved ancient houses still remain.
