Iwaki City Coal and Fossil Museum

This museum provides a comprehensive overview of the history,development and prosperity of the Joban coalmines. The featured displays include the 22metre long skeleton of a Mamenchisaurus dinosaur, and a "Futabasuzukiryu", which is a kind of plesiosaurus discovered in Iwaki. You can also learn about the local history of the coalmines and the living conditions of the local miners at this museum.Iwaki City Coal and Fossil Museum is located about 5km from the Iwaki Yumoto interchange(about 10 minutes by car).

Closed: 3rd Tue of each month(or 3rd Wed if 3rd Tue is a public holiday).
